skateboarding makes you hungry

Manchester has some interesting street spots.

This place looks good but shadiness lurks in every shadow. The bank is near Piccadilly station, and weirdly home to Manchester's darkerside. Dodging used prophylactics Rich Heatley pops a mellow ollie on the rough banks surface.

Hey man it might be raining all day, you might be depressed, you can cry or you can go skate the nearest indoor wood you can find, Stocky bones for me, thanks to Will Grundy for these photos, your rad. Stockport bowl is rad too, the upstairs street course is getting a re-fit, pictures soon.

Take a look at this old 'Blind' advert, Mark Gonzales (smarts two)and Jason Lee (aka my name is Earl), the godfathers of modern day street skating back when all boards had 'fishtails'

You can't beat the old Santa Cruz an Bullet adverts of yesterday, look at the sketchy see though plastic vert ramp, it screams danger.

fish tails

The other street innovators of yesteryear, like Sean Sheffey an Matt Hensley, nope I think so.

Once again thank you charity shop in Stockport for the great find, piles of old Thrashers, thank you skateboarding, a big thank you Thrasher magazine and the 90's and of course massive thanks go to Steve Caballero for being a rad vert dog.
All the above images are from this January issue of Thrasher 1990, and of course are not copyrighted to me in anyway, hope this is okay, free raw dog skateboard history lessons for the masses, an for those who don't care about the past, heres something completley random.

Woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head, looked outside an saw the sunshine, phoned my mate Vic "are you up for a skate?" without hesitation he said "yeah mate!" Jumped in my car and picked up the Vic, foot to the floor we made the bowl right quick, stepped out the motor into snow shower, made our way four wheels anyway the snow on my nose kept itching my toes, reached the bowl fast an dropped my jaw to the floor it needed to thaw typical mancunion weather upside down smile forever, council worker shouts "you never heard of ice skating, mate!" ..............cheeky cheeky.
